Dr. Robert Spencer earned his Doctor of Medicine from McGovern Medical School at UHealth Houston and a Master of Public Health from the UHealth School of Public Health. Prior to medical training, Dr. Spencer received a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology from Connecticut College. Dr. Spencer has developed a strong background in clinical medicine, public health, and research which fostered an interest in evidence-based medicine and the intersection of clinical care, research, and population health. Dr. Spencer is an active member of several professional medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). These memberships reflect an ongoing commitment to professional development, surgical education, and advancing the quality of patient care.
