Penobscot Valley Hospital (PVH) is excited to announce the expansion of its imaging services with the addition of a new state-of-the-art MRI system, set to begin operation in January 2025. This upgrade more than doubles our current capabilities, providing more detailed imaging and enabling a wider range of exams to better serve our community’s healthcare needs.
PVH has partnered with Insight (Rayus) to bring advanced imaging technology to Lincoln. The new General Electric 16X Excite MRI system, housed in a mobile trailer, offers cutting-edge features like metal reduction software for enhanced image clarity. With a weight capacity of up to 500 pounds, this machine can accommodate a broad range of patients.
Starting in January 2025, MRI services will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with plans to expand operating days as needed. This expanded schedule increases convenience and ensures more timely access to high-quality diagnostic care.
The advanced MRI system enables PVH to perform a wide variety of exams, including imaging of the spine, extremities, chest, abdomen, and head. For patients requiring enhanced imaging, contrast agents can also be utilized to provide the detailed views necessary for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
