Celebrating National Phlebotomists Week

From February 10th through the 14th, Penobscot Valley Hospital (PVH) proudly joins healthcare organizations across the country in celebrating National Phlebotomists Week. This special week is dedicated to recognizing the vital role that phlebotomists play in patient care and diagnostics for the health and wellbeing of the community.

At PVH, we are fortunate to have an incredible team of phlebotomists who work tirelessly to provide exceptional service to our community. We extend our deepest appreciation to Naoma, Caitlyn, Michaela, Rylee, and Katie for their skill, professionalism, and dedication. Working alongside our entire Laboratory Department, they go above and beyond every day to ensure that patients receive the highest quality care.

What Do Phlebotomists Do?
Phlebotomists are trained professionals responsible for drawing blood from patients for medical testing. While the procedure itself may seem routine, the work they do is essential for diagnosing and monitoring countless medical conditions. Their expertise ensures that samples are collected safely and efficiently, helping providers and patients make accurate and timely medical decisions.
Beyond technical skills, phlebotomists must have a steady hand, attention to detail, and most importantly, a compassionate heart. Whether they are comforting a nervous patient, ensuring the accuracy of test results, or coordinating with the lab team, their work is a cornerstone of quality healthcare.

A Heartfelt Thank You
Penobscot Valley Hospital is proud to recognize our phlebotomists not only for their technical expertise but also for their kindness and dedication. Their work is often behind the scenes, but its impact is felt across the entire community.
To Naoma, Caitlyn, Michaela, Rylee, Katie, and the entire PVH Laboratory Department—thank you for your hard work, compassion, and commitment to excellence. You are truly part of the heartbeat of our healthcare system, and we are grateful for everything you do.
Join us in celebrating National Phlebotomists Week by giving a big thank you to these essential healthcare professionals!
