Everyday Heroes: A Tribute to Our Certified Nursing Assistants

At Penobscot Valley Hospital, we are proud to join healthcare organizations across the nation in recognizing National Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) Week, celebrated this year from June 12 through June 18. This week is a dedicated opportunity to pause, reflect, and express our deepest gratitude for the incredible CNAs who form the backbone of compassionate, hands-on care at PVH.
Certified Nursing Assistants are often the first to greet a patient in the morning and the last to check in at night. They are the gentle hands that help someone sit up in bed, the steady voice of encouragement during a difficult moment, and the quiet strength that brings calm during uncertainty. While their roles may not always make headlines, their impact is undeniable.
At PVH, our CNAs are more than caregivers—they are comforters, advocates, and healers. They bring warmth into every room they enter, offering not only physical care but emotional support to patients and families alike. Whether it’s holding a hand during a tough diagnosis, celebrating small victories in recovery, or simply listening when someone needs to talk, our CNAs consistently go above and beyond.
Their work is physically demanding, emotionally complex, and often unseen—but it is never unappreciated. Our CNAs are vital members of the healthcare team, bridging the space between clinical care and human connection. Their presence ensures that our patients feel seen, heard, and cared for—every hour of every day.
“The compassion and dedication of our certified nursing assistants make a profound difference in the lives of our patients and their families.  The care our patients receive would not be the same without the care provided by the CNAs.  Thank you for all that you do, every day.” Lisa Veillette, Chief Nursing Officer at PVH
During CNA Week, we want to say one thing loud and clear: Thank you!
Thank you for showing up with dedication and empathy.
Thank you for your resilience and your heart.
Thank you for being a steady light for our patients, especially in their most vulnerable moments.
To our CNAs—your work matters, your presence matters, and you matter. We are so proud to have you as part of the Penobscot Valley Hospital family.
Happy CNA Week!
