Provider Bio

Dr. Shannon earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Northeast Missouri State University in 1979. He went on to Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine to earn his degree as a Doctor of Osteopathy in 1983. He completed his internship at Charles H. Still Hospital in Missouri and his residency at the Naval Hospital Pensacola. His last year at the Naval Hospital, he served as the Chief Resident. Dr. Shannon brings his experience in medicine and as a veteran to the PVH Emergency Department.

Emergency Medicine

Emergency Medicine is the medical specialty that focuses on the immediate decision making and action necessary to prevent death or further disability. The emergency physician provides immediate initial recognition, evaluation, care, and disposition of a generally undifferentiated population of patients in response to acute illness and injury. The care provided by the emergency physician is episodic in nature and involves a full spectrum of physical and behavioral conditions.
