Provider Bio

Dr. Turnquist graduated from Purdue University’s Honors Program with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School with his degree as a Doctor of Medicine in 1994. He completed his internship at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic before completing his residency at the Family Practice Residency Program at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital in 1998. When Dr. Turnquist isn’t providing care in our Emergency Department, he enjoys sports and physical fitness and wellness.

Emergency Medicine

Emergency Medicine is the medical specialty that focuses on the immediate decision making and action necessary to prevent death or further disability. The emergency physician provides immediate initial recognition, evaluation, care, and disposition of a generally undifferentiated population of patients in response to acute illness and injury. The care provided by the emergency physician is episodic in nature and involves a full spectrum of physical and behavioral conditions.
